GRESIK I bidik.news – The Laban Village Government, Menganti District, Gresik collaborated with the Gresik Environmental Service (DLH) to educate residents about waste management and utilization. Education is focused on policies regarding the prohibition of burning waste in accordance with the mandate of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 18 of 2009 concerning Waste Management.
Acting Head of Laban Village, Hadi Purwanto, said that his party deliberately collaborated with the Gresik DLH to educate residents in community service activities to overcome the overflow of garbage at the Laban Village TPS (temporary storage place).
“The waste storage at our village’s TPS has exceeded its capacity to the point of overflowing into the area outside the TPS. Residents outside Laban Village also dump their waste at this TPS so that it is really full,” said Village Head Hadi in the midst of his residents’ community service, Wednesday (18/06/2025).
In order for the waste not to be burned according to the law, the village government brought in a waste processing and service team to the community service location. The goal is to provide knowledge to residents about how to recycle waste so that it can be useful.
On that occasion, the Head of the Waste Processing Unit at the Gresik DLH,
Purwanintyas Noor Mariyansyah, provided education to residents about the procedures for utilizing waste using the 3R method.
“The 3R method (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) is a way to utilize waste by reducing the amount of waste produced, reusing items that can still be used, and recycling waste into new items,” explained Purwaningtyas.
Acting Head of Laban Village Hadi Purwanto together with Laban Village Secretary Wawan Asnuri and other village officials also participated in community service and education on the process of recycling waste into useful items.
“By implementing the concept of Reduce Reuse and Recycle, in addition to reducing the amount and impact of waste on the environment, the wider community can also increase their sense of concern and awareness of the environment,” concluded Hadi Purwanto, closing the discussion.
